Dear students of MKTG 578

For your first class, kindly watch this lecture video: https://youtu.be/oXe8AyqlUio  and then attempt the assignment given here.

For session 1, your assignment you have to do your work and upload it as a PDF document. Since this platform does not really have an ASSIGNMENT section, rather it has an EXAM section. So, please do the following work, then save your work as a PDF file, and upload your work in the next STEP. Be mindful that the next step will be like an EXAM but it's just the way platform is designed (missing feature I suppose). 

The deadline for your work is Tuesday 20th September before midnight. There are penalties associated with lateness.
Late by 1 hour or less = 0% penalty, still marked as PRESENT
Late by 1 hour to 12 hours = 5% penalty on work, marked as Half-absent
Late by 12 hours to 24 hours = 10% penalty on work, marked as ABSENT
Late by 24 hours = Work not accepted and will be given a ZERO, Marked as ABSENT
Upload only PDF file. No other file format will be accepted and I will give you a ZERO for incorrect versions.
Ensure you have checked your work for plagiarism.

The answers must be supported by references with a proper bibliography. You can use online citation generators for that. Do not simply copy-paste your reference website.

Here is your first question:

What do you believe was the reason for Amazon's success against its rivals? List and explain 3 of them. For this question, write around 300 to 400 words on average.

In this day and age, data privacy has become a major issue and the EU is setting stricter policies on large e-commerce organizations to be mindful of their data collection practices. Do you think Amazon can survive if they are no longer able to collect data from its users? Explain the pros and cons of large e-commerce like Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Apple, and Microsoft on their data collection practices. Write around 300 to 400 words on average.
